God Thing

See on http://icjesusnu.blogspot.com/2007/03/god-thing.html
Well, my uncle has been through a therapy session that I think every warm blooded American oughta take into consideration. The suggestion was made for him to create a survival kit for those times of overwhelming stress and anxiety. He was told to make a list of possible items that pertain to each of the five senses. His two favorite items that he listed for the sense of taste were sour gummy worms and black licorice.

Yesterday while browsing the Cabela’s store, my aunt picked up about six candy items to take to the hospital for my uncle. She walked in and presented him with part of his surprise, a package of sour gummy worms and black licorice. He asked, “Did someone from here call you?” She assured him that they hadn’t called and that it was a God-incidence, a.k.a. God thing.

Another God thing happened this morning. Last night, my uncle shared the ‘rest’ of the list of favorites. One of the favs for the sense of hearing was a duck call. A friend and business associate stopped by the house this morning and mentioned that someone from work wanted to do something special for Leroy. The guy has a talent…making homemade duck calls out of wood and would be starting one for Leroy. Donna and I shot each other a quirky glance and busted out laughing…”dudu dudu”…another God thing!!!

PRAY FOR THIS LADY!

March 12, 2007 by GIadmin Leave a Comment

One Sunday morning recently I sensed the Spirit of God so strongly it was all I could do to stop myself from standing up and shouting it from the rooftop!  As the pastor led the altar call, God “showed” me an older lady sitting on the other side of the church (I couldn’t even see her from where I was sitting!), and I knew she wanted to respond but was holding back. I didn’t quite know what to do – should I say something? But I felt to just stay seated, and to pray fervently for her.  Several minutes later, guess who went out the front for prayer and salvation?  That was soooo cool!

Love, Janet xxx

Daily Matters

February 25, 2007 by GIadmin 1 Comment

There are probably things that happen on an almost daily basis that are God-incidences but we aren’t always aware of them.

Last Thursday I was down at my church, helping with a mailout and when it was time to go, went to say goodbye to Pastor Georgina but saw she was in the Senior Pastor’s office so decided not to interrupt her. I turned to go and both of them called out to me to come back. Both had been reading my articles online and wanted to encourage me as they felt the articles were good. We began chatting and I shared about some recent publishing successes I’d had – writing is one of my passions.

Recently Ps Georgina and I have been discussing which connect group my husband and I might lead this year and we still haven’t settled on anything yet but then Ps Rob said ‘why not a writer’s group?’ and Ps Georgina agreed. The three of us talked excitedly about it for a few minutes before I had to move on but my heart had quickened and the idea is indeed exciting. But the amazing thing is just that morning I was reading about setting up a Christian Writer’s Group at the FaithWriters.com website – I’d never looked at that before and I was wondering about it. So to have Ps Rob suggest it and Ps Georgina agree on the very same day I’d been considering it seemed to be another one of those God-incidents for me and I expect it is something that will now happen.

Another Dove Story

This was added as a comment but I thought it would be good to post it as another God-incidence story. Thank you Katherine, and know that others are praying for you.

I know this was posted awhile back but I just ran across it in a search for Dove Promise messages.

I have a very similar story to share. A little background first – I suffer from depression and anxiety and have been engaged since October.

About a month ago, I was freaking out about the wedding, having doubts and worries, asking myself what love really is and so on. Mind you, my fiance is a wonderful man and we have an amazing relationship. He is also the person that keeps God in my life by encouraging me to go to church, pray and attend Bible study. I truely believe God placed him in my life so there really is no reason to doubt our future.

Well, anyway, I was freaking out about a month ago about divorce rates and I said a quick prayer that was something like, “Dear God, please help me to not worry about the wedding or divorce rates and just let it be what it is.”

About a minute or so later I had a taste for a Dove dark chocolate piece, which I always keep in the freezer. I went and got one and the message was, “Don’t think about it so much.”

It just hit me at that point that I didn’t need to worry about the wedding or the marriage and that God would take care of it. My anxiety over the wedding has dramatically decreased since that day.

Keep in mind that I eat a lot of Dove chocolate and I get a lot of repeat, generic messages, but that is one message that I have not seen again which strengthens my belief that it was divinely created.

Just wanted to share my story. I’d like to ask anyone who reads this to please pray for me as despite this experience, my faith is very weak right now and I don’t want it to get any weaker.

Thank you.

About

It was a church sermon in 2005 when I first heard the term ‘God-Incidence’, not to be mistaken as a co-incidence. Things happen for a reason and God does show up in every day activities. It is my hope that this blog will help demonstrate that for you.
